The Start Of My Relationship With The Gym

About 2 years ago, I decided to start going to the gym regularly.  Now, my reasons for going to the gym are probably not what you're initially thinking...I was actually underweight, and was trying to bulk up.  When I started to tell people that I was trying to gain weight and get a bit bigger, I was met with quite a bit of derision. "We can trade if you want" or "Why would you want to do that?!" were some of the most common remarks, and honestly it was demoralizing.  I started asking myself, "why am I doing this?" and, "Am I making the right decision?"  I was starting to let peer pressure get to me...I almost decided to give up but finally a friend reminded me that this was something I needed to do for me. Getting fit isn't for anyone else but yourself, it's a journey to push yourself to achieve new heights and to conquer your goals!

Through your own journey, don't let others stand in your way, have a goal and set milestones towards achieving those goals it will help keep you accountable and will push you to continue bettering yourself!  I constantly remind myself of a quote from author Jim Watkins:

"A river cuts through rock, not because of its power, but because of its persistence."

You can accomplish anything you set your mind to, and the key to finding that success is persistence.
